The Choice
“The Choice” captures a moment that feels simple on the surface, yet represents one of the deepest conflicts of our modern lives the choices we make every day between technology, nature, and our inner light.
The three hanging objects symbolize three paths:
The smartphone the distraction, the addiction, the world that pulls us away from ourselves.
The sun our vitality, our truth, our creativity, the life force that nourishes everything.
The tree nature, grounding, healing, the connection we are slowly losing.
And below them, a single human finger reaches forward. It chooses the phone. It is the choice I myself have made too many times. I have chosen the screen over the sun, the digital world over nature, the illusion of connection over real presence. And I know I’m not alone.
The artwork is not about shame it’s about awareness. It’s about observing ourselves with compassion and recognizing how easily we drift away from what is real.
The phone glows the least, yet it is the option we are drawn to the most.
The sun radiates warmth.
The tree carries the promise of life.
But the finger still moves toward the device, almost automatically.
I painted this moment to spark reflection:
What are we reaching for?
What are we neglecting?
What are we becoming?
“The Choice” is an invitation to pause for a second before we tap the screen and remember that we always have other options, brighter ones, living ones, ones that bring us back to ourselves.
