Take Your Pills
“Take your pill” is a reflection on healing on how far we’ve drifted from the simple, living remedies that once nurtured us. In this piece, I wanted to explore the idea that the medicine we search for is often already within us, and in the world around us. We keep looking for solutions in bottles, chemicals, and laboratories, when sometimes the purest cure is the one nature has always offered.
The silhouette of the head and the throat pathway represents the inner body the place where we absorb, digest, transform, and heal. Inside this pathway, I painted a line of symbolic pills, each containing a tiny green tree. These are not pharmaceutical capsules; they are reminders that nature is medicine. That the earth has been offering us healing long before modern industry tried to replace it.The things we often overlook, but that have the power to restore us more deeply than we realize.
The red background expresses intensity our urgency, our stress, the noise of our modern world. Against this loud backdrop, the simple form of the body and the organic symbols of nature create a contrast, healing doesn’t have to be complicated. Our bodies understand nature far better than they understand chemicals.
I created this piece to remind us that we are part of nature, not separate from it. What heals the earth heals us. What grows from the soil can nourish not only the body, but the mind and the soul. Sometimes the medicine we need is not manufactured it is grown, breathed, lived.
This artwork is an invitation to return to what is essential, to trust the intelligence of our bodies, and to reconnect with the natural world that has always carried our cure.
